DKL Rubber helping a local school & dealing with Covid-19

We at DKL Rubber have been approached by local school, Ellesmere College who are making face shields for the local care homes and hospitals and donating them free of charge.  They have asked if we could assist in the cutting of the head band using our CNC machine. This is something that we took great honour in helping cut. Our NHS needs business like us to help more than ever

The school as of the 18/4/2020 so far has made and delivered 3500+ face masks. They have managed to do this by having a crowdfunding page to help purchase the materials and have been using their laser cutter and 3D printer. They have had a growing team of volunteers producing the face shields overseen by Johnathan Haycock teacher of Design and Technology.

Local communities have also helped by buying 3D printers and lending them to the school to use but as the demand increases for shields the school reached out for help.

We hope that the little bit of help we have given the school will help the local community be protected from Covid-19. If you think you can help the school, please go to their crowdfunding page and donate.

Covid-19 : How we are adpapting.

At this worrying time, we have had to change the way we work as a company. We have taken into consideration the wellbeing of our staff members and asked if they wish to continue to work or if they would feel safer at home. Only a few members of the team have opted to furlough whilst office staff are working from home.

As a company that make parts for the medical industry and the military it was important for DKL to stay open and operating as normal as possible. Thanks to our hard working and dedicated staff members we have been able to achieve this.

As a company we are still managing to complete orders on time with quality goods leaving us even though we are currently running with skeleton staff.

Every week we review where we are, what the current situation is and adjust the current action plan in place. This ensures everyone knows what is happening and when. We have an open-door policy for any member staff to be able to come and talk to us if they are feeling worried or anxious. We have also introduced a min of 2 metre space between each workstation and office space. We have asked all staff members at break times to ensure they are adhering to the 2-metre space and to communicate with each other as much as possible.

Please help us to support the fantastic efforts of our wonderful NHS during this time. We will get through this together.
