12 months of DKL
DKL Rubber has been a member of Made in the Midlands since 2019 but last May we decided to step away for a year due to DKL going through an acquisition and the management and team needing to focus fully on that.
Last August saw us acquired TechMould based in Lancashire. This is a great opportunity for us as a company and an exciting time.
Robert Oakes Director had this to say.
“The acquisition of Techmould has enable us to expand our overall offer to include both vacuum moulding and plastic moulding. It has abled us to pursue further contracts where specialist tool making equipment is required due to having a in house tool making facility.
We have also seen an increase of sales due to Brexit and covid. As Company’s start looking to bringing manufacturing back to the UK.
Last April saw a shortage of PPE in the UK. We opened our doors and freed up a staff member to a local school who were making visors using a small laser cutter this was taking them a long time. Having the use of DKL’s CNC machine to cut the parts for the visor meant they eventually made over 10,000 visors for the local care homes and hospitals in half the time.
All material costs for the visors were covered by a fundraiser organised by DKLs managing director’s family. Whose children biked, walked, and scooted a marathon in 14 days. They raised £1851.00 for PPE.
Due to an increase in business and the acquisition our workforce has grown from 14 to 24. Meaning we have had to recruit more staff.
We have also re branded the company and have invested in a new website which we are very proud of, you should check it out. www.dklrubber.co.uk
This is an exciting time for DKL Rubber, and we are looking forward to what the future brings, as well as getting back involved with the Made in the Midlands community.
