Training, is it important? We believe at DKL that knowledge is power
Over the months of September and October we at DKL Technical Rubber have been focusing on staff training.
Using the VARK learning style (Visual, Aural/auditory, Read/write, Kinaesthetic) We have been doing numerous different training schemes to see what works best for our staff. Using the VARK method we have been doing hands-on in-house training with the production manager Peter Gough to ensure all staff are happy when manufacturing certain jobs. We have been giving out information leaflets for the staff to read. We have been doing some IT training. Giving staff time to come into the office and use the computers to complete online training.
The benefits of employee training and development are increased job satisfaction, increased employee motivation, increased efficiencies in processes which could result in financial gain. Reduced employee turnover and will increase capacity to adopt new technologies and methods.
We set out training goals and planned what we want to achieve as a company with regards to getting staff where we and they want to be. We have asked our staff what additional qualifications they would like to help with their job role and have put in place some additional outside training such as forklift training, first aid.
We have really enjoyed training and getting to know our staff on a 1-1 basis and finding out what they want to achieve whilst working for us and what we as a company can do to help them achieve it.
What training methods have you used and what would you recommend? Get in touch with us and let us know.
